​About the painting

 

Referencing climate change, water damage and sustainability, the gold seam that runs across the painting is a tiny section of Juruá River, a 1200 mile long tributary of the Amazon. It was inspired by an abandoned rusted steel frame, increased flooding and water damage to properties, the effect of climate change on  river wildlife and NASA imagery of the Amazon basin from space. All these things come together in the Jura River, but on a huge scale.
