A potted overview
Me
I was born in West London and grew up behind an industrial gas works in Southall where my grandfather and great grandfather worked. The big blue Gasometer was the view from my childhood bedroom window. It might explain why industrial spaces have always held a slightly fearful fascination for me and influence so much of my work.
Education
Studied at Kensington and Chelsea College of Art before going on to do a Fine Art degree at University of Westminster.
My work
I see myself primarily as a painter, but don't restrict myself solely to painting. You'll find a lot of textured white oil paint in my work, nearly always accented with cement powder, gold leaf, metallic mediums and found items.
Our interactions with spaces, buildings, objects and technology feature heavily in my work along with their influences that inform, distract, undermine, coerce or shape our conscious and subconscious behaviour.
Alongside art I have been a musician for over 40 years. Playing bass guitar live and recording regularly for the whole of that time.
